MOTIVE

To Joseph Beuys, felt and grease were his creative anchors. His personal trauma became the foundation of his art. I myself have not been cared for by Tatars after a fall from heaven. "My fall" from the womb is my biggest "trauma": How do I relate myself to this earthly existence?  "This relation to" has been the subject of my work since I studied at the LUCA School of arts in Brussels and the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. I often use the cartoon as a stylistic tool. It's a comment for me: Studying "the world" using the Taoist aspect of the joke.
